The hacker prank guide

What you need: SB Game Hacker Simulator (a free hacker prank app on Google Play), a game or app on your phone that your friend recognises, and about two minutes. The fake hack runs on your phone. Your friend's phone is never touched.

Before you start

  • Install the app from Google Play and do one practice run on your own, so you know the screens.
  • Check that your phone has a game or app your friend plays. The target list shows the apps on your phone, so their favourite game has to be installed on it.
  • Turn the brightness up. The matrix rain looks best in a dim room.

Step by step

  1. Pick the target. Open the app, tap Start and choose the game your friend knows. The "Target locked" screen shows its real name, icon and version number, which makes it believable.
  2. Pick a mode. "Root" sounds scarier. Nothing changes either way: both run inside the simulation.
  3. Take the boost (optional). A short ad makes detection rise 40% slower, which gives you more time to perform. It also promotes you to Pro.
  4. Run the breach. Hold the phone so they can see the matrix rain, and tap to wipe your traces as the detection meter climbs.
  5. Get traced, on purpose. If detection hits 100% you're "traced". That's the most dramatic moment. Reroute through a proxy (another short, optional ad) to keep going, and you unlock Elite as well.
  6. Access granted. Pause. Look at your friend. Let it sink in.
  7. The reveal. Tell them it was a simulation and show them the app. Then hand them the phone so they can try it.

Keep it fun

A good prank ends with everyone laughing. A few house rules:

  • Reveal it within a minute or two. Don't leave anyone worried.
  • Only prank people who'll find it funny.
  • Never claim you got into someone's accounts, photos or messages, and never use it to get money, passwords or anything else from someone.
  • Don't use it on strangers. If someone gets upset, stop and explain straight away.

Does it hack my friend's phone?

No. It runs on your phone and doesn't connect to theirs. Nothing on either phone is hacked. Here's what's real and what isn't.

Can I prank someone on their own phone?

Only if they have the app installed. The target list shows the apps on the phone it runs on.
